Pyramid Challenge

Today we had to build a pyramid. The hardest part of the whole process was getting the work force right. The problem was that you could not use slaves and you had to navigate the Nile River that was hard because you would get the boat going fast then you would have to turn real hard and you would hit land or a crock or hippo or rocks and damage the ship and if it took you to long then you had to do it again and if your king died you had to stop and you had to do it in about 20 years or you would fail.

Today we did presentations. The only one we did was the presentation on animals. The animals that people were able domesticate. Such as the Llama, Horses, Pig, Sheep, and Goats. The Llamas were used for the meat and the fur. The horses were used for there strength and for their meat. Pig were used only for their meat because they were not big enough to pull a plow behind them. Sheep had many uses the were used for there meat, milk and fur and were the easiest to domesticate. Cattle were used for their meat, milk and strength to pull plows.

Guns, Germs and Steels the ending

Today we had finished the movie Guns, Germs and Steel. At the end of the movie they had talked about the invention of metal tools and how the people in the middle east heated lime stone and made plaster of the inside of their houses. The people in the middle east when the over farmed the land they were smart enough to stay along the same longitude line so that they would could raise the same animals and grow the same crops. At that time they didn't know that if you stay on a longitude line then you can grow the same crops and it will have the same climate. Then at the end Diamond could answer the mans question about how Americans have so much cargo and New Guineans have so little the answer was that the people of New Guinea were dealt a hand that fit their environment.

Domestication of animals and food

The people in the middle east domesticated wheat and barley for food and also domesticated animals such as goat, sheep, pigs and cows. In the middle east they showed the first sign of civilization and a permanent settlement and storing of grain and domesticated animals. In New Guinea they don't have the animals and the crops to provide for a large group of people and they had to collect the food they grew for them selves and they had to plant the food for them selves so they were not growing as much food as the other societies.
