Going over test

We had gone over the test we took yesterday and we had also talked about how we are going to write the essays for our final exam. We had also talked about what we need to know for the exams because we don't meet on Monday we have to review this week. 

Test

We had a test in West Civilization. It was on the government for the U.S. and Rome. It talked about how many people are in the U.S. senate and the Roman senate, and also talked about the story of Remus and Romulus, and how they were raised by a she-wolf. Also it talked about what the hill was called that Rome is built on. 

Class

I was not in class because I had a funeral to go to for my Great Grandmother.

Final day

It was the final day of project. We say a game, gladiators, and more pottery.

Presentations Day 2

We had 3 today. We had pottery, architecture, and a diary. The pottery was good I learned what they were used for. The architecture was  good it showed how temples were made to look like. The diary told me how the life of a Roman girl plebeian and a male partition was, and that they washed there cloths in pee.  

Presentations

Today we ate food and sang a song and look at a presentation. The food was good but the cheese cake was bitter. The salad and the pasta was a good mix and the apple juice was good but there was a lot of cinnamon in it. Our song was alright but we had some technical difficulty but we got it to work. Every one enjoyed it and the slides went well with the song. The last one was good it told me a lot about the the coliseum and the circus maximums that I didn't know about. 

Class

We had talked about Julius Caesar and he loyal army. The worriers of Rome we loyal to Caesar because when they deffeted a country they took what is called spoiles of war. Land, money, women, slaves, and other things. They would take them and distribute them to the soldiers and that would make them stay loyal to the army. 

Pop Quiz

We had taken a pop quiz in West Civ. It was on the video we watched and on the different branches of the government and what they are composed of. What part of the government had each thing like the senate and the consuls. 

Video

We had finished the video about Tiberius and the Roman's. The ending was brutal and it showed how the senate worked sometimes. They would sneak in people to throw off the vote so that new laws that went against the senate could be turned down. The movie at the end showed that Tiberius wanted to give the land back to the poor from the rich. The senate didn't like that Tiberius would be taking the land they used to get rich and for hunting and give it back to the poor farm owners. The senate at the end took the problem into there own hands and beat down Tiberius with sticks and chairs. There were people that had told the senate that Tiberius was calling him self king and that when they went to vote the signal for his body guard was interpreted the wrong way and they thought that he was telling his servants to bring him the crown. In Rome that was the most heinous crime you could committed was wanting to be king. 

Project day

Today we had worked on our projects. With my group we had to annotate the verses of our song to write a paragraph that explains every in of the song 

Rome again

Ya will are learning about Rome again and we have started watching a video on Ancient Rome and the after math of the Punic war. When the 50,000 slaves came in from Carthage and the other 150,000 from allover that flooded in to Italy.

Rome

We had gone over the big Rome power point and we had also went back over how there government is similar to our government. We had also talked about the Punic wars. They were fought between the Romans and the Carthaginians. Why it is called the Punic I don't know. They had come from the north down to try to attack Rome and have the element of surprise they did until word came down from the villiages that Rome controlled telling that the barbarians are attacking with elephants.   

Absent

I was not in class today.

Skill of being ahead

We have another free day to do home work because we are so far ahead of the other classes. That makes us the best class. We have the highest test average and we get all of our work done so we get days like this where we can just do our home work and we can do nothing if we are done.  

Grandparents day

I got to spend the day with my grandmother and go from class to class with her. We got to go to Spanish and west civ together. We also got to enjoy a great meal together and with the other grandparents. I just hope that there are other opportunities that I can hang out with her again soon.

Riots

We had disused the riots happening in Baltimore and what we thought about it. We had also talked about how they looting and things isn't about the death they just wanted an excuse to do it all. We had talked about what should be happening in Baltimore and what should the mayor and the governor do about it. 

Project Ideas

We had gone over what some ideas are for the Rome project and what can be in the project. We can not have anyone getting hurt or if we bring in a prop it can not be metal and it can not hurt somebody. If we do than we will fail the project and we will have disciplinary problems. 

Rome Presentation

We had gone over the song we heard yesterday and we had gone into depth about the song. We had talked about how Tarkin the proud's son had raped a highly respected woman who thought it was her fought and killed herself. Than his father says that there is nothing wrong.  

Free time

We had free time in class today. Mr Schick had to grade the last two papers so we had to be quite but we could do what we wanted. When we got our papers back I was not suprised that Evan got the highest grade he deserved it and he earned it by doing the longest part of the paper by talking about the The Iliad and The Odyssey. Both of those books are over twelve thousand line long and he had to write about those he deserved the highest grade out of the three of us. 

Rome

Mr. Schick had come in and talked to us but than her left and a singer came in and sang to us about Rome and the people that had settled in Rome. He also talked about the rulers and the way they were run and he told us the story of how Rome got its name.
